.java.policy is the user's default security policy file shared by Java programs. To enable certain features of the Java applet (e.g. accessing hard drive), permissions must be granted.
Default Home Directories:
|Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and 2003||C:\Documents and Settings\<username>|
|Microsoft Windows Vista and 7||C:\Users\<username>|
|Mac OS X||/Users/<username>|
File name starts with a "dot" is a hidden file in certain operating system.
If a policy file has been setup already, copy and paste content of this file to the existing one.
Change IP address/hostname in the file if neccessary.
